David and Goliath Campaign

Donation Cards and Notes Cards:  "David and Goliath" by Angelo Pinto sends an important message and helps the Legal Defense Fund.

A generous member has produced wonderful Donation Cards and Notecards that you can purchase.  To honor someone’s memory, to honor an event in someone’s life, send your important message with a Friends of the Barnes Foundation Donation Card. The inside of the card reads:  “FRIENDS OF THE BARNES FOUNDATION gratefully acknowledge a gift” and  shows the recipient’s and donor’s names.

Single cards are available for a contribution of $10.00 and can be sent to the recipient(s) you designate.  Packets of six donation cards are available for a  contribution of $50.

To order, send an e-mail message with your name, address, telephone number and details of your order to FBFDonationCard@aol.com.  Your check should be made out to Barnes Watch and mailed to P. O. Box 35, Merion Station, PA  19066.  The donation cards will be mailed either directly  to the recipients you designate or to you, whichever you prefer. (Please state your preferences clearly on your order.)

The cards have an image of David and Goliath painted in 1932 by Angelo Pinto* and used with permission.

*Angelo Pinto was an important part of the Barnes Foundation.  He was born in 1908 in Italy and moved to South Philadelphia in 1909 with his family.  From 1929 to 1931, he studied at the Barnes Foundation.  From 1931 through 1933, Dr. Barnes provided scholarships for Angelo Pinto to study and paint in Europe, where he befriended Henri Matisse.  Upon Angelo Pinto's return to Philadelphia, Dr. Barnes hired him in to teach the second year course, "The Traditions", which he taught once a week almost until his death in 1994, commuting from New York City where he lived since 1941.  Six of Angelo Pinto paintings hang in the galleries of the Barnes Foundation today, including a reverse glass painting of David and Goliath.

We are deeply grateful for the gift of this image made available to help our efforts to save the Barnes Foundation.
